PAT 2023 Application

Polytechnic Admission Test (PAT) 2023 is a state-level entrance exam conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Assam for admission into various diploma courses in engineering and technology offered by government polytechnics and institutions of Assam. The exam is expected to be held in May 2023 and the application process will start from April 2023. Candidates who have passed or appeared in the HSLC or equivalent examination with Mathematics and Science as compulsory subjects are eligible to apply for PAT 2023. The application fee is Rs. 500/- and can be paid online through debit card, credit card or net banking. The exam will be of 2 hours duration and will consist of multiple choice questions from Mathematics, Science and General English. The admit card will be available for download from the official website of DTE Assam before the exam date. Candidates who qualify the exam will be called for counselling and seat allotment based on their rank and preference. How to Get Recognition for your Diploma in engineering in Assam

You might have faced difficulties in applying for higher education or jobs where the minimum eligibility criterion is Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent. The second thing you need to know is that the Government of Assam has given official recognition to the equivalence of your Diploma in Engineering with Higher Secondary (10+2) qualification. In a notification dated 28th February 2020, the Government has stated the following:

a. Equivalency of Three-year Diploma in Engineering awarded by the State Council for Technical Education (SCTE) Assam, under the Directorate of Technical Education to Class XII (Science) plus 01 (one) year of undergraduate degree in engineering, which is at National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) Level 5 and at Unified Credit Level 4.5
b. Diploma Holders in Engineering under the State Council for Technical Education (SCTE) Assam, are eligible to seek admission to second year or third semester of undergraduate engineering programme through lateral entry.
c. The three-year Diploma in Engineering under the State Council for Technical Education (SCTE) Assam is equivalent to Class XII (Science) pass for seeking admission.
d. The three-year Diploma in Engineering under the State Council for Technical Education (SCTE) Assam is equivalent to Class XII pass for seeking employment where the minimum qualification in Class XII.

The third thing you need to know is that this recognition will open up many opportunities for you in terms of higher education and career prospects. You can apply for admission to various undergraduate engineering programmes through lateral entry scheme, which will allow you to join directly in the second year or third semester of the course. You can also apply for various jobs where the minimum qualification required is Class XII or equivalent. You can also pursue further studies or skill development courses at NSQF Level 6 or above.
